328/265: Preparation Thanks-giving

untitled-2.jpg

This evening I made the cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie, prepped the stuffing, sweet potatoes and the bacon for the brussels (why doesn't anyone say brussel 's' ? I've only ever heard it pronounced brussel. Spell checker doesn't like that) sprouts. Mmm... Thanksgiving! I'm thankful to be well prepared for tomorrow.

They originated in Brussels, Belgium. And they are technically "Brussels sprouts," though the "b" is often made lowercase for reasons of familiarity. People either don't pronounce the "s" because they don't know it exists, or because they're saying "Brusselssprouts" together so quickly, the first "s" seems to disappear behind the stronger "s" in sprouts.

However you say it, they're one of my favorites, especially with bacon. Happy Thanksgiving!
